They’ve got some new twee-twee food delivery service in my neighborhood for people too lazy to walk three blocks to the grocery store, and while I don’t plan on paying them to take a few hundred steps off my weekly total (plus my wife handles the groceries), I am intrigued by their apparent plan to deliver said food in a Vespa-mounted trailer.

Wrong kind of “Vespa trailer” from GIS, but oh so right

People have been delivering things on bikes here in the city since we all decided to stop living amongst piles of horse shit, but you rarely see an articulated setup like that. Cargo bikes, sure, but not a separate trailer. Having never driven one myself I don’t know if it’s actually more ungainly/dangerous, but it sure seems like it would be.

It doesn’t seem so bad as long as the trailer doesn’t weigh too much.

Funny that they need this setup - in South Korea they’ll just put food in these metal carriers on the back of a scooter/bike, basically just a big metal box with some shelving, rather than deal with a trailer.

The big plus is that you pile up the dirty dishes from your take-out food outside your home and they come and pick it up afterwards.

Scooter trailers are not all that rare. Do a search for “vespa trailer” and you’ll find tons.
